The Anthony Cumia and Diamond Joe DeRosa Show. Always a treat.
The Anthony Cumia and Diamond Joe DeRosa Show. Always a treat.
Ant gives Spaceballs a bashing. What other shitty movies stink on ice?
Jim's here. Batmen compared. Michael Keaton and Shemp Howard.
Half-cocked. Unacceptable chair for a fancy man. United loses a kid.
Progressive get the twittery boots put to them. Joe versus the people.
Expounds Neo-Malthusian theory of radiation and customer-service.
Sal goes in the barrel. Doctor Steve on the phone to harass Joseph.
Sing-song shite. SNL put under the scope, found somewhat wanting.
Shaky crisis of confidence. Alcohol, ejaculation and the probabilities.
Love when the teen sensation stops by. Excellent stuff.
ReplyDeletethis. i went from hating him to now he's my favorite guest/jimmy sit in.

ReplyDeleteOh shit! This show's gonna kick some major ass today, though I've always liked Opie, despite how people love to trash him for some reason.
DeleteHe gets trashed because he is not funny and cuts off the stories of Jim and Ant.
DeleteHe bitches and moans about the bosses too much, he cares too much about things going "viral" and plugs his twitter like a whore.
Mean Opie is fun though
Good points all around, but he's like the captain of the ship when it comes to O&A and the guy with the radio know-how in the industry. Without him, Ant would have never become famous in the first place and he would have still been working as a air conditioning repairman. I think Opie just needs to take a month long vacation and I'm sure he wouldn't be so bitter all the time.
DeleteI agree that he steers the ship, but I don't think a vacation will help.
DeleteI downloaded a torrent of all the times Patrice was in studio. They all ( Opie the most) had so much more passion for the show.
After hearing the older shows again it seems like he is done trying. I don't think they will stay on XM after Oct.
Ant may do a podcast thing from his house but I don't see Opie going to Ants everyday.
At least the comics from the show have great podcasts
Even the worst of these recent O&A shows (especially the ones where they talked about the Olympics for an hour and a half straight. Ugh) are probably better than whatever Howard Stern has been doing lately. At least they haven't sold themselves out like he did by going on AGT and contradicting himself and his whole career.
DeleteHoward is the perfect example of someone who lost all passion for radio. Good point
DeleteTiger beat joe, Homerun Cumia and Lil' Yimmy....my heart just skipped a beat....
ReplyDeletethanks David.
ReplyDeleteJesus Joe, it was meant as a joke #ShowReferenceGuy
Thank god Anthony told em to change the intro. Fucking hate Dub step
ReplyDeletePLEASE start including the FU lines calls PLLLLLLLLLLEASE!!! I miss them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'd be very dubious about the chances of something like that happening.
DeleteGTAJ is a benevolent dictatorship, so without a popular uprising occurring in this here comment thread and a fevered clamouring for the bit, then right now it seems fairly unlikely it will occur.
You are the first person I've ever heard say that the production pieces aren't tired-out and rotten.
You're not really missing much anyway, they only do a new FU every month or two, and it always sounds exactly like all the previous ones you've already heard.
Include the FU line, then someone will want some Bobo or some Detective Kenny based shit, then some Troy cut and paste bollocks and before you know it we'll have someone looking for those fucking awful unlistenable Danny Ross bits to be included.
The whole point of doing an edit is to remove all the horrible shite that the poor saps that listen live have to endure.
A line needs drawing somewhere, and I agree with Cumia: the callers all stink, all of them, all the time.
If it was any good, it'd already be included, but it's not included, so by definition, it can't really be any good.
So like I say, could happen, but right now the odds look pretty much slim to none.
Being reminded of Detective Kenny just made me cringe.
DeleteWe got ourselves a show over here.. LOVE the Teen Sensation.
ReplyDeleteAnt is dead right about Space Balls.
ReplyDeleteI Fucking hate Space Balls too. I never watched it as a kid.
ReplyDeleteThank you sir.
ReplyDeleteScrew the Opie haters, they are the ones that think Chip is funny...dopes.
ugh, an Anthony show... and nothing like Joe's shrill screech of a laugh in my ear every 5 seconds.
ReplyDeleteHey man Jim is doing an interview with Russell Peters today. Do you think you can put that up?
ReplyDeleteThe Rawdog channel and schedule is utterly impenetrable.
DeleteI think I found the show, but hard to be 100% certain. The interview turns out to be hacked down to only 10 or 15 minutes long, followed by a track from a live CD or something.
But the whole channel is edited and spliced with a fucking chainsaw. Programming the channel appears to involve shuffling a bunch of random tracks from standup CDs or specials into a computerised cannon and firing them at a satellite with no explanation or structure.
Anyhoo, here is the audio that aired at roughly the time mentioned in Jim's tweet:
Hulkshare Link
Who knows if there is a part 2, after this it went straight into an hour of Jeff Garlin, Lisa Lampanelli, Dane Cook and some of those Blue Collar guys ...
Ah, your the best man. I appreciate you taking the time to looking into it.
DeleteThanks for the upload! Any way of editing out Joe's laugh the next time he's in?
ReplyDeleteSpaceballs was semi-funny then only because it was the first spoof on the sci-fi genre. now it just doesn't hold up for shit.
ReplyDeleteBring in the Diceman to co-host with Anthony and jimmy :D
ReplyDeleteI think the FU line would be cool once in a while - haven't heard it in years. It's quick, and not really productiony like the other shite.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the Opie comments; People need to appreciate chemistry. The show can be too much as it is. Op adds a perfect counter-vibe, and brings great balance to the show. He does complain too much- more accurately, too long when he does it. He doesn't cut people off like he used to, and I think he's brilliantly funny in his own way. The "obvious funny" from Jim and the other comics is more than enough, and becomes redundant and crutchy without Opie taking the wheel.
Like Roberto Severino said- It's Opie's instincts that are responsible for all of this!
Dumb & Dumber was hilarious as fuck when it came out. That's all I have to say.
ReplyDeleteI love the Opie defenders, so hollow in presenting their case. I'll put it simply: He is not funny, he interrupts, he forces 'bits' that he contributes nothing to, he hams up his personality 110% for the show and his 3 die hard fans who have 'Opie the Destroyer' t-shirts. Jimmy and Ant are way more genuine and authentic, only slightly hyperbolic to who they really are, not to mention they are laugh-out-loud funny, almost without fail.
ReplyDeleteHe does not add a 'perfect counter-vibe', he's just a handbrake and every comedic missile that some (actually funny and talented) person comes out with.
All of that being said, Opie is 80's Stern compared to Fez.. I fucking hate Fez.
Thank you David xx
So good man, spot on!!
