  2. Haven't listened yet, but I have a feeling O&A are gonna move onto a podcast after October. There's no point in resigning with SiriusXM with all the new technology out there and how you've been posting every single show they've done this year without all the dumb ads. Thanks for the upload, GTAJ.

    1. I get the impression that Opie cares a lot less about resigning than Anthony does. If you remember back when they signed their last contract he was dating Nicolini and she said afterwards he was taking Xanax because he was very nervous about the situation.

A podcast would not work. I can't imagine Opie and Jimmy going all the way to Long Island every morning to record a podcast in Anthony's basement.

    2. Opie said in one of the arguments he had with Anthony that he could move on from the radio show and always do something else and still be fine, so you're right about him having this "it's just a radio show" attitude. Now I'm not even sure what's gonna happen after October.

    3. I don't think Jimmy wants the show to end either. Especially with him whining the other day about his stalled career, whatever that means. His standup special crashed the Epix website.I was at the Anti-Social show at Foxwoods a few months back and it was a packed show. And he goes to LA to do Leno like twice a month. Oh, besides the two NY Times Bestselling books. I don't get it.

    4. Around the signing of their last contract in October '10, during which Opie could literally bitch and moan for at an hour a day, he insisted that there was basically no way of them signing again unless there are serious improvements in management, there are major overhauls with the creation of some sort of visual element, and their salaries are increased. My bet is that none of that will happen, management will stick it to them again, and the show (with the bitching) will go on.

I mean, Opie has a family to take care of. Jimmy apparently isn't doing well with standup. And Ant knows he isn't responsible enough to live modestly on whatever nest egg he's got. They'll resign.

    1. Tomorrow will be 200th blog post, but only 160th O&A Show.

200 should be late-October, of course assuming the boys all sign a contract.

  5. Ant and Jimmy should continue the show without Opie. Have a different comic in everyday. That would be phenomenal.... The three of them will re-sign tho, and Ant and Ope will get paid and Jimmy will get screwed again and have to do other gigs to make ends meet while listening to talentless Opie bitch about his millions. Opie sucks and Ant hates when Jim's out cause he has to entertain Ope's lousy bits for 4 hours, but I also think Ant likes not having to run the show. I could be wrong about all of this cause I'm drunk. ps- this site fuckin rules!

    1. Sounds about right to me. Ant seems to have a lot more fun when Opie's out.

  6. opie can be bothersome, but you guys bitching about him complaining have your heads up your ass. i've listened to this show every day since i was 12. opie has EVERY RIGHT to complain about sirius and their contract, i even enjoy when he does. i wish they could complain and motherfuck sirius more. it's terrible the way they treated the show day 1 after the merger. and it's not like it's ever gotten better.

i love hearing about their battle with the soulless corporation and spineless management. can't really explain why, but i do.

and opie does have his function. sure he can be dumb and annoying, but he does have the stick. he's been in charge forever and it works that way because it probably works best. i love when anthony hosts by himself but i doubt he enjoys the drudgery of being in charge all the time. if he did, he would grab the stick more. and live from the compound means those that want just him can have him.

    just my 2 cents.

if they decide to say fuck you to sirius and have their own podcast, i'd gladly put my money directly into their hands rather than have to pay a goddamn company that doesn't even acknowledge their existence or their fans. sirius can blow me, i don't feel bad about not paying them AT ALL.

  7. The writing was on a wall many months ago but you can pretty much be certain this is the last month. Ironically, the Opie Plan of an O&A podcast network is also the thing that makes it unnecessary to resign them. You can now find 20 Jizz Comics putting out 4 hours of 'Cringe' comedy a day (at least). Half of them are the regular guests on OA now.
Maybe if Patrice and Bobo hand't passed on? Opie didn't smash his toy and bosses so viciously?
But as of now. Better to just count this as the last hurrah and 1 month countdown.

  8. These guys wont make shit doing a podcast. they're just throwing that out there as a negotiation ploy. its sirius or death for this show. i hope they pick sirius.

  9. Opie stinks and can't carry a podcast on his own. All he does is wine. Without Ant and Jim I think he will be hurting to get many paying customers for his own podcast.
Ant and Yimmy need Opie to move the show along, they aren't great at playing host.
Sam needs O&A otherwise he is really nothing.
I don't think R&F would be resigned w/o O&A floating them. I love R&F but I don't think they garner enough attention on their own to make their own way.
What happens to most of the staff? Could go to other shows I guess.
Should be an interesting month or so. No mention of it suggests negotiations aren't going well or they have accepted that they are moving on. If that is true, I would expect them to go out in STYLE. Should be interesting...

  10. I'm told Opie 'was' right - there is some money if you owned a 'podcast network' - Nerdist, Smod, Ace Carolla but some say its too late to get in there (profitable) in 2013. Maybe the WTFs, Carolla etc have already locked up big places and maxed out true money-making spots for the near future?
Ya i would laugh if Opie goes out in just horrifying style. Some epic ending.

  11. I really cant stand opie.I try,but he just annoys the fuck out of me.I wish the show would become the Ant and Jim show.

Opie, the show has passed you by man.

    1. I would say I wish it was the other way around. Ant is just a biter to fuck and brings nothing to the show but racism

  12. They are all horrific by themselves, yet shine on other people's podcasts or when together.

They won't be anywhere near mansion money with a podcast. Carolla sacked his father because his podcast was costing the network, that's how much of a tightrope it is. And Carolla's always seeking/making TV and comedy money. He's not just a radio hack.

And then consider how many podcasts are there simply to drive live appearances/comedy shows. Many are a means to an end.

  13. I could see Opie linking up with Bob Kelly to do a podcast. Either something new or a continuation of YKWD.

    1. that would be horrible. i only listen to YKWD when derosa is on. bobby can't carry it on his own.

    2. Great point. I loved YKWD when The Sensation was a constant, but the show has devolved into too many kids at the big boys' table. The show lost its soul.

  14. I don't particularly love 'Nerdist' but I just caught the Joan Rivers interview (she is great) but was surprised to hear Chris saying while he does make money they aren't getting rich and monetizing his YT channel still doesn't compare to funny cat videos and the like.
And keep in mind, like Nerdist or not - that is a MASSIVE podcast network and very well established and has a nerd-niche locked up pretty well.
O@A are at a big disadvantage because there are so many 'jizz and pedo comedy' podcasters its impossible to own that niche (as they could 6 or even 3 years ago in radio).

But as someone under-employed and finding half my skills are nearly without any value in the new job market.. I empathize.
